Last week, we had the honor of naming Lyle Phillips our 2023 Mitch Reed Volunteer of the Year! Lyle recently completed ten years as the board chair at Whitefish CU and 36 years as a dedicated board member. He continues to serve as a director for the credit union and was, “a driving force in defining a path for Whitefish Credit Union to emerge as a stronger and more resilient credit union in the years following the Great Recession.”

His impressive resume not only includes his time as a volunteer on the board for the credit union, but also with numerous organizations in the Flathead valley. After retiring as the Manager of Human Resources for Columbia Falls Aluminum Company (a 42 year career!), he supported organizations such as the Whitefish School Board, State Workforce Investment Board, Job Service Employers Committee, Board of Directors of Immanuel Lutheran Communities, and as a volunteer fireman. The list does not stop there though.

Lyle is a worthy recipient and as his nomination noted, his “commitment to the people of Northwest Montana and his unwavering leadership at Whitefish Credit Union has made him an invaluable asset to our community.” Congratulations, Lyle! We are proud to see your many years of service rewarded.
