We had a fantastic few days at the Be Fearless Conference in Kalispell last week. In fact, one of your fellow board members tossed his way to the final round of our cornhole fundraiser. Congrats on your almost victory, Mark Lodine (Horizon CU)! It is always great to have volunteers represented and providing your perspective.

As a board member or supervisory committee member, it is important to be educated for your role; but it can be challenging to attend events with the commitments in your day jobs and life. There are a few opportunities coming up for you to consider and get on your calendar:

  • Our PEAK Credit Union Board Performance Directors Series starts with a free informational webinar on Nov. 14 at 2:00 p.m. MST. You can learn more about the series in our Sept. 20 blog, Checking All the Boxes.
  • Registration for the MonDak Roundtable is now open. Join us in fabulous Las Vegas January 17-18 to engage in high-level leadership discussions specifically geared toward credit union CEOs and board members. We have hosted this event with Dakota credit union leaders since 2017, and, now in 2024, Minnesota is joining us too. Check out the agenda for some wonderful sessions and speakers!
  • CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC), our credit union industry’s largest advocacy event returns to Washington, D.C., March 3-7, 2024. Each year thousands of leaders from across the country come together to rally around a united cause — to show legislators how their policies impact credit unions and their more than 137 million members.Montana credit unions are committed to ensuring all Montanans have access to affordable financial products and services. This visit allows us to deliver this message directly to policymakers. Please join us in helping our elected officials understand the unique benefits credit unions provide to our members is one of our most important tasks. We are putting together an agenda for Montana attendees that includes a luncheon followed by Hill visits with our congressional delegation.

We have room blocks with a limited number of rooms available. If you are planning to register, contact MCU SVP Advocacy, Karen Smith, for room block details. They have to be booked by December 21, but can be modified up to Feb. 15 if your plans change.
