Congratulations to Carl Thomas, Park Side Credit Union’s board chair and the MCU 2019 Mitch Reed Volunteer of the Year. (He is shown at left with Park Side CU CEO Jeremy Presta after the award presentation at Power Up last week.)
Carl has notched 22 years of experience as a credit union volunteer and chaired Park Side through multiple mergers, incorporated a new board culture, expanded the supervisory committee, and built a board succession plan to recruit new volunteers that reflect the demographic diversity of Park Side’s membership in the Flathead and Missoula areas.
Carl is active in his church, serving both his local church and the state diocese. He has chaired the local minor league baseball league, served as the state president for AFSCME Montana Highway Division, and as the local area president.
In addition, he proudly served our country for more than 20 years in active and reserve duty and then after his military retirement, he enjoyed a second career at Montana DOT, Columbia Falls Aluminum Company, and Glacier National Park. Carl is a worthy and humble recipient and we could not be happier to see him recognized!
I also know there are many of you out there who are deserving of this recognition. Start thinking about nominating one of your fellow board members for the 2020 Volunteer of the Year. We start accepting nominations in the early spring!
