Our 2022 Volunteer of the Year was awarded during the Power Up meeting in Billings in May, and then kept quiet until the credit union’s annual meeting in late June when she could be presented the award in person. Nancy Metzger is a business owner, engaged grandparent, and “boomerang credit union volunteer” for SEG FCU in Laurel.

What does it mean to be a “boomerang volunteer”? Nancy has stepped up three times to assist at her credit union! First as a board member, then as a supervisory committee member, and recently to assist with the succession planning committee when the board chairman stepped down. She spearheaded the hiring process of their new CEO and still completed the extensive duties of the Supervisory Committee without missing a beat.

According to the nomination, the credit union “is better off because of her service and commitment. She embodies ‘people helping people,’ and we could all learn something from her.” The credit union notes they “have been very fortunate to have a volunteer with her enthusiasm and go-get-’em attitude.”

She is an owner of local business 9-Round Fitness and Knock Out Smoothie and busy with grandchildren and the chauffeur service that comes with them. Congratulations, Nancy! We are excited to see your volunteer work for the credit union recognized. You are moving the bar for others with your dedication.
