Hope Takes Flight Support for ShodairMontana Credit Unions for Kids

An essential part of the credit union philosophy is giving back to our community, including through charity. Montana’s Credit Union’s charities of choice are Credit Unions for Kids and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In Montana, any money we raise goes to support Shodair Children’s Hospital, which is our state’s sole CMN hospital. While Shodair is headquartered in Helena, it serves families from all over the state.

Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) is a collaborative program that involves participation from Montana credit unions.

Our Fundraising Commitment

Montana’s Credit Unions is committed to raising $50,000 over the next four years for Shodair’s Capital Campaign for their new hospital in Helena. Montana CU4Kids Committee members will be asking credit unions to get involved in a number of fun events to raise funds.

Let’s Make it Fun

To add a little fun and coopetition, we’ve split up the state’s credit unions into five teams — one team for each of our five CU4Kids Committee members. (Check the list to see what team your credit union is on and who your team leader is.) Each team will be encouraged to raise $2,000 a year through 2025. The CU4Kids Committee members will lead their credit union teams to meet (or exceed) this annual fundraising goal through a variety of fundraising events and opportunities throughout the year. Our first fundraising event is …

The Brawl of the Wild Cats/Griz Icon Fundraiser

« of 24 »

Between November 1 and 19 (the day before the annual Cats/Griz football contest), credit unions across the state sold Cat and Griz football icons giving MSU and UofM fans a chance to engage in a bit of friendly rivalry while donating to Shodair and supporting their team. We created social media graphics and several flyers for credit unions to use to spread the word (click on the links to download a .zip file) and, as you can see from the photos above, our credit unions took it from there. The final results are in and the “Brawl” raised over $25,000 — shattering expectations. Thanks to everyone who participated! For those keeping score, the Griz won the actual football game, but Bobcat fans were victorious in our credit union lobbies. The final tally was 9,774 to 9,013 icons sold. But, don’t worry Griz fans. We’ve decided to make this an annual event, so there’s always next year.

Our CU4Kids Committee

The purpose of the CU4Kids Committee is to help support our local CMN hospital by encouraging other credit unions to join in the fundraising. Below are our current committee members and the teams they’re leading.
