Last week I had the opportunity to join 5,300 credit union advocates in Washington, D.C. at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). It was inspiring to be in the presence of so many people from various states, diverse communities, and different positions in their credit union, all working for a better future for their members. It was also humbling to realize just how well-respected credit unions are.

From the podium and stage, speakers and lawmakers all praised credit unions for their dedication and tenacity to the “People Helping People” philosophy. They encouraged us to continue to tell our stories and work in the niche we have for those who are often not able to find affordable financial options. If what you do is important to one person and their financial future, it is worthy.

So, today as we turn the clocks forward and anticipate the arrival of budding trees, flowers, and warmer weather, smile and be proud that you are making a difference! The future is bright and your members feel it too.
