Supporting local nonprofits can be deeply rewarding for everyone involved, whether through small gestures or larger initiatives. One of the most impactful ways to contribute is by helping raise funds. While there are many fundraising strategies a credit union can pursue, one of the most engaging and effective options can be a silent auction. Silent auctions create excitement and friendly competition, as participants bid without knowing who else is involved or whether they will secure their desired item until the final moments.
At Montana Credit Union, silent auctions have proven to be highly successful fundraising efforts in recent years. By inviting employees to donate items, we have been able to assemble a diverse and appealing selection of auction offerings—without requiring anything extravagant. This initiative has even encouraged a bit of “spring cleaning,” allowing staff to declutter while supporting a meaningful cause. Donations have ranged from homemade baked goods and curated gift baskets to handcrafted items, showcasing the creativity and generosity of our team. The variety and thoughtfulness of these contributions continue to inspire and impress year after year. If there’s a mystery box, it is mind-blowing how much people are willing to bet just because they are curious as to what’s in the box!
