[HELENA—AUGUST 2, 2013] August 1 was Co-op Day at the Richland County Fair, and Richland FCU once again teamed up with other cooperatives in the area to serve free root beer floats to fairgoers. On Thursday before taking her shift at the booth, Nancy Verschoot, senior loan officer at the credit union, estimated that they'd hand out at least 1,000 floats over the course of the day. They stocked the stand with 55 gallons of ice cream and planned to keep scooping ice cream and pouring root beer until they ran out.
Not only is this annual event a way to raise the public's awareness of the various cooperatives that do business in the county, it's also a great way for the employees of those cooperatives to connect. What a wonderful tradition and a wonderful way to keep the cooperative philosophy alive!
