Accounting Manager, Whitefish

This position is responsible for the directing and preparation of all financial and regulatory reporting in accordance with Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP); the development and maintenance of rolling financial and liquidity forecasts; participation in the preparation of annual budgets; and participation on the Asset/Liability Committee of the Whitefish Credit Union.
The ideal candidate will possess: the ability to align accounting goals with larger organizational strategies; excellent problem solving and negotiation skills; and strong analytical and organizational skills. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance or banking is required. Three to five years experience in financial reporting, preferably in a public accounting environment, is also required. Previous public accounting experience is preferred, as is CPA certification. One to two years of supervisory experience is also preferred.

The person in this position provides counseling and guidance to credit unions in the areas of compliance, regulations and operations essential to the successful development of credit unions. S/he will represents member credit unions in matters involving state and federal governments, with an overall objective to maintain a positive regulatory environment in which member credit unions can flourish. Two to five years of credit union mid-management or related experience with an educational background equivalent to a college degree is required. Also important are strong interpersonal skills -- the ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job. Other necessary skills are an awareness of the state and national regulatory environment and extensive knowledge of credit union law and philosophy, accounting practices and general business practices. Mid-management experience in a credit union is preferred. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and feel comfortable making presentations before large and small groups.
